Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female signing with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The label debuted her first album titled Pho in the month of October 2016, and she was able to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012, with the debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. She continued to upload her tracks online through 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. In July of 2015, she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat it Out. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to use it with Rihanna. The announcement of her decision to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. Backseat was a track she sang with Cozz for the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. Her Pho EP was released on her debut album on the 21st of October the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening performance. In 2018, she went on to guest feature on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on September 5. On November 9 she released two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November, 13, she released two additional singles entitled One and Pdigree. One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make an appearance as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. In February 2019 her music video to the track debuted. The track has garnered more than 3 million YouTube views in just one week. As a support act she performed together with 6LACK in December of 2018 for the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
