Kim Delaney, an American actress best known as the character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series, for which she won the Emmy Award. Her appearances are All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was born the only child from her mom who was a homemaker as well as a high-ranking executive of her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney was a child with her four brothers. She envisioned becoming a court reporter in the early years of her life, however she began modelling in high school and eventually gaining commercials following her move into New York. As a teenager, her first role as an actor was on the soap opera of 1980 All My Children. The career of Delaney has been filled with numerous television films and dramas. The way she lives her life, unlike her professional has not been a success and has not been happy. The talented actress has struggled with addiction issues in the past and has been through two divorces. In 2005 her custody was taken away from her.
